British artist Sophie Woodrow creates beautifully bizarre porcelain sculptures. These ethereal human and animal forms are created with her own hands with delicate precision. Mysterious and mind-blowing at the same time, the characters possess a lively glow and almost human. Each piece is hand-built, involving coiling, incising and impressing to create a delicately textured surface.
According to Sophie, her sculptures do not come from the other worlds but are ‘might-have-beens’ or those that have been here but now aren’t present. With her unique sculptures, she aims to create characters from our notion of nature and other people.
